December/Holiday Craft Night

We are BEHIND getting this info out! ACK! Better late than never, yes??

Next craft night:

Wednesday, 12.12.12 !!!
6:30pm
Tina Coleman's House - 3158 N. 1375 W.

Projects:

Chipboard design frames (colors will vary for paper & letters)
Words to choose from:
JOY - WISH - NOEL
*we'll also have a selection of 3-4 single shapes (stars, tree, etc) if you want to do a single frame
Cost: $2-$5, depending on your word(s)

(for this project, you cut paper to fit the FRONT of the glass, then paint your letters to match your paper & adhere the letters to the paper)

**note: as of 12/8, black & silver frames we can get for $1 at 2 different places - unfinished is $2.50 & white $4.95 - checking 3 more places tomorrow, so if you want/need white, check with Angie or when you submit your order (via text, email or phone) let me know what you need!

Collection of mini-subway art (7 sayings included)
Cost: $2-$5 depending on our final cost of frames (if you want black or silver frame, $2 final cost)

Christmas Tree Cones (colors will vary)
We'll have yarn, wire, twine to choose from for these cones. This is just one idea so you can visualize!
Cost: $1-$3(trying to get a best price per tree, not sure yet if we can get more than one size cone)
*So far, the easiest size to get is 6x3 (6 inches tall, 3 in. wide base) & they are $1.75 each - the twine or yarn will be .50-.75 on top of that. IF you are doing a wire tree, we'll only use the forms for shaping the wire, so you'll just be paying for the wire! That will be $1-$2 per tree, depending on size & gauge & we'll have 2 to choose from there (at this point!). Plan on $2.75-$3.00 IF covering the form & $1-$2 if using the form to shape your wire.

Snowman hot cocoa jar (for teachers, decor, or otherwise!)
Cost: $3 each - including jars, hot cocoa & mallows, vinyl, buttons & ribbon/fabric for scarf

More details coming!

October Craft Night

**price update!!! the soild paper pumpkins (first below) start at only .25!!!
we got lucky with a fabulous paper sale! so, if you want to do a simple bargain craft to
keep or give away, this one's perfect!**

My goodness, ladies, it's been a long time since we've posted anything!!!

First - next craft night! Elisabeth Hansen is graciously hostessing at her place:

Wednesday, October 24th, 6:30pm

**DINNER NIGHT!!!**

Elisabeth has some WAY fun food planned, so come hungry!

Here are our projects...

Folded paper pumpkins - can be any size & style you want!(ie, ours will NOT look exactly like those pictured...this is just inspiration)  I'll have 3-4 paper choices if you order - OR bring any paper you want to get rid of (or that you want to match your decor) or an old book you can use pages from. (for a more mod b/w look) We'll be cutting, assembling, making stems & vines, etc. Bring scissors! $1 for small, $1.50 for medium, $2.00 for large, $3.00 for X-large (you can make as few or as many as you want).

Another easy paper craft! Again, cutting & assembling - please bring scissors or a paper cutter (the best thing for the strips!). I'll have standard orange, green, black, white & a patterned paper available. $1 per pumpkin to cover paper, adhesive, pipe cleaners.

These are easy peasy, too! The form is a roll of toilet paper :o)  $3.00 for twine, tp & hot glue. ** I am double checking price on twine & will modify this by end of day if needed**

Skeleton Frame

Sorry the pic for the skeleton frame would NOT load - - for some reason, no matter where I sourced from, it wouldn't transfer as a regular image.

This is a great way to use broken halloween decor (like that old set of pumpkin or skeleton lightst that don't work anymore!) as your central shape - also, a great way to use an old frame, especially if it's already black!

$2 to cover frame, paint, glitter, ribbon, halloween shape. IF the ornaments prove too difficult or expensive to get, we'll have chipboard shapes & letters to use.

Wreath - Marcia is spearheading this one - we're not positive if it will happen this craft night, I'll have her post on that! Part of the issue is difficulty spray painting in lousy weather :o) So, it may be postponed to a later craft night.

Still working on setting up a google doc for orders - i haven't used it in years & they just changed formats! I just need some time to set it up.

Please be thinking about your orders - they need to be in by October 22nd (MONDAY) at the latest, to Angie.

We want you ALL to come - even if you don't want to do a project or have anything else you'd like to bring to work on! This is a great ladies-night-out to catch up with friends & neighbors - so, you are more than welcome to come & eat, chat, help, craft, whatever! Start RSVPing NOW so food can be planned - then order anytime thru the due date.

july craft night.

Hey ladies!!

Sorry for the short notice on this one, but craft night is going to be on Thursday, July 12 @ 7pm.  Kim and Amber are hosting this one, and it will be at Amber's house! We are going to have a painting party.  Everyone has that project or piece they just need to paint, so we will be setting up a station in the Hodges' backyard to paint ourselves silly.  Bring your projects and it will be a blast.

If you want Amber to go get spray paint for you, you need to let her know the color by Tuesday.  She will give you the cost Thursday night when you come.

Also, if you don't have any painting you need done, feel free to bring any projects you are working on.  There will be a table set up for those too.  See you there!

A Success!

Hello, ladies!!!

Thanks to ALL for making last night's activity a rousing success!!! I was thrilled with the attendance & i hope that everyone is pleased with their projects! Several of us are still working on ours...myself included, ahem, and i look forward to seeing more finished products!

I think it's also FABULOUS that several showed up with either projects from home to work on or just to socialize - that's a huge reason we try to get together regularly, so we can have a break from the daily grind & enjoy getting to know each other better!

Speaking of which - we need to plan our next activity! Marcia & I both mentioned we'd be happy to brainstorm & provide projects for anyone that wants to host but either doesn't want to plan projects or doesn't want to do it alone. So, options!!!

Late February or early March is our target - and crafts/projects can be whatever you want! Make-n-Take cards, spring garland or wreaths to decorate, kid related, food related, whatever! I brought up a paper bird cage idea that I'd be happy to "teach" (it's ridiculousy simple) & gather supplies. I am looking for a picture to post (i forget the site I first saw it on & the ones I've found so far just aren't as cute!).

If you want to brainstorm & starting posting ideas - - please do!!! many of you have the login info for this blog...if you want/need it, just ask! We don't want to post it here, since it's public :o)

Anyone want to volunteer for next time???

January Craft Night

***UPDATE*** (as of Wed Jan 18th)

OFFICIAL DATE CHANGE - doesn't that sound SO important??!! LOL

After much feedback from practically all of you (awesome)...we are moving the craft night to Wednesday, February 1st at 6:30pm. My House!

Projects: Birthday Calendars, V-day necklaces, Jar/s, possible decor balls

Also - as of this week-ish, Michael's no longer carries the memo sized/mini clipboards! Rude, I know. I called every one within 40 min. of here, btw, and after much searching at area locations AND online - - best deal I can find is $1.79 each. So, nearly double what I was hoping, but still pretty cheapy! That price won't change no matter how many orders we get.

I've had about 3 orders come in - - and with the date set, deadline for orders is 2/25 - money by 2/27 (b/c i need final orders to get the exact costs of copies, beads & ribbon)

If you have any questions about supply lists, etc., please read through the post & then get in touch with me with any other questions you may have after that. I'll post a final list next week & send you individual emails or texts regarding your orders.

***UPDATE*** (as of Tues Jan 17th)

My DH informed me today that his work travel changed & he will now be gone thru about 9pm Wednesday, 1/25. SO! I can still totally do the craft nite, there will just be a couple kiddies around part of the time.
OPTION #2 - move the activity to February 1st, 2nd or 8th & add a V-day craft (that I was debating to use anyway!!) that would involved many overlapping supplies, hence, minimal cost. I'll put it to the masses & let you decide!!! If I don't get much feedback, we'll keep things as-is!

Thanks!

Optional V-day craft IF we change nites... Valentine's Necklaces

***END***

Next craft night: Wednesday, January 25th, 6:30pm. Angie's house!

Here is the main project & list of what you'll need:

Birthday Calendars!

These are mini clipboards with a page for each month, which you write birthdays onto. You can choose how many pages you want for each month, as each day only has one line.

I'll pick up all the clipboards ($1 each, I'll let you know if different, that's what they were last i checked). You'll be responsible for whatever paper, fabric scraps, ribbon, etc. you are interested in.

Also, i don't plan to get easels for everyone b/c some people may want to hang them, keep them in a desk organizer, etc. On the night, we'll be cutting your embellishments to fit, cutting out the calendars (two on a page, I may have this done if there aren't 1000 to do), assembling & any painting, inking, etc. you may want to do.

I DO need to know how many calendars you plan to make, so I can have the right number of copies. Each calendar will need 6 pages (on cardstock) & I'll have them printed at Riverprint or OfficeMax, depending on cost. They'll be .10-.40 each (so, $2 tops for 1 calendar)  all depending on how many we need & what kind of bulk discount we get.

One more thing you'll need to decide is if you want to paint your clipboard (the one shown is painted) or mod podge paper or ??? for the base. I will have some craft paints here, but don't have every last color of the rainbow! I will have foam brushes. I also have ModPodge to use for the clipboard.

Next project, Holiday Candy Jars!

I've been bringing these up for MONTHS & i just love them (my interest was piqued b/c we eat a lot of pickles at our house & I love to recycle for craft projects!). I plan to use them for Valentine's candy & favors & then for several other holidays & events during the year. IF you are interested, you can thrift store (as Marcia has brought up before for the similar apothecary Joy jars), use any glass jars you may have at home OR you can peruse the pickled foods section at any grocery store or any dollar store & get them CHEAP. The candlesticks can be any castoffs you have - the above shown (and mine) are a combo of glass & wood, just painted to match. Obviously, if you want them to be the same - you can buy unfinished wood ones in different sizes.

Yours can be totally different, too! if you want to do only one jar for an empty spot on a shelf or in a centerpiece - a group of mini jars for a windowsill or end table - two jars to use on either end of a book case or console table - - - possibilities, people!!!!!!!!

Again, depending on how many people want to do this one - I may have enough paint & glue here (industrial, like E6000) - if there's an overwhelming response, we can divvy up costs. These can all be painted & assembled that night & just need a 24 hr cure time when you take them home.

Last thing - due to HUGE response & interest in the home decor balls during the fall - I know several people could not come or didn't get to make as many as they wanted. SO - if you want to do that project, let me know!!! I am happy to set up a table for that to happen, especially since I didn't get to do mine yet! Odds are so much better for me to finish a project when done in a group setting :o)

OK! Feel free to comment on this post or send me an email - if I get ambitious (and the sickness starts to leave these parts...) I'll do a quick google doc for orders to make things simpler.
